Curriculum

The Montessori Method is characterized by a prepared environment which is tidy and pleasing in appearance. Each element exists to help in the development of the child. A Montessori classroom integrates children of mixed ages. The classroom curriculum for children from 2 to 6 years old is divided into four working areas.

Practical Life: These activities focuses on the care of self, of others and of the physical environment. They include activities of "grace and courtesy" and tasks that are familiar to the child such as washing dishes, setting the table, arranging flowers, etc. Through these activities, children develop coordination and control of movement and are encouraged to explore their. surroundings. Children learn to perform a task from beginning to end, develop their will and self-discipline, and increase their concentration and self-confidence.

Sensorial: Young Children learn more through their senses than through their intellect. The sensorial materials are used by children to refine each of their senses. Each material isolates a specific quality: smell, size, weight, texture, flavor, color, etc. Preschool children are surrounded by sensorial information, these materials allow them to find order and meaning to the world, raising their capacity for perception, favoring observation and a sense of admiration for everything that surrounds them.

Language: When a 3 year old child enters an environment, the language that they had already acquired is enriched. The child learns to communicate intelligently. They learn to write, starting with their senses (hearing and touching), and as a natural consequence they learn to read. As an extension of language activities, children learn about geography, history, art and music

Mathematics: The material help the child learn and understand mathematical concepts working with tangible materials which allows the child to intuitively understand abstract concepts. Sensorial impressions of numbers set the foundation for algebra and geometry."

Lesson Size

Our curriculum is based on individual and small-group lessons within the classroom according to Dr. Maria Montessori philosophy.

Extra-Curricular Activities

"Our state-of-the-art playground and beautiful surroundings have various options for children to experience the outdoors. They get plenty of opportunities to have fun, practice their motor skills, take nature walks, learn about plants and animals, etc. as part of their academic day. During after school hours students have the additional opportunity to learn music, dance etc. These lessons are taught by qualified teachers who accept the Montessori philosophy and supplement the materials taught in the classroom."

Student Assessment

Daily experience sheets are documented for each student and shared with the parents during parent teacher conferences. Parents are encouraged to communicate with teachers on a regular basis so that learning continues at home. A mobile app has been implemented to keep parents informed and families involved.

Nutritional Meals
